The System Administration dropdown is located on the Main Menu to the right of the Reports dropdown.
Function
The System Administration dropdown will only be available to those with special permissions. This dropdown allows the privileged user to access the Data Definition, Config, Console, and Traffic Count Upload for the application.
Data Definition
The Data Definition interface allows the privileged user to view where data comes from and when it was updated. This interface is organized by tabs which mirror the Main Menu picklists. Once selected, the tab's associated data items and their description, data type, database, source table, column, and filter information will appear in table format. This interface is read-only.
Config
The Config interface allows the privileged user to edit the various code lists used throughout the application. To edit a code list, the user can first select a code list in the dropdown at the top of the interface if more than one is available. Then, they can locate the table which displays all valid values in the currently selected code list. The user can select a table row to show the value's associated fields below the table; these fields are now editable, except for ID. After editing the desired fields, the user can click Save Changes to implement the changes or Discard Changes to revert the fields to their original values.
Console
The Console pop-up stores administration tasks for the privileged user to view/edit. When the user first enters this interface, only a prompt and "Administrative Task" dropdown will appear.
Once a task is selected, its associated table will appear. The columns displayed will depend on the selected Administrative Task. Most fields can be edited by clicking into it and typing another value; however, the fields in these columns cannot be edited: Code, Status Date, Updated On, Updated By.
These controls will appear on the pop-up for most Administrative Tasks:
Control | Description |
Save Changes ( |
This icon will become available as changes are made to allow the user to save new values. This control serves the same purpose as the Save button. |
Discard Changes ( |
This icon will become available as changes are made to allow the user to discard new values and revert them to their prior state. This control serves the same purpose as the Discard button. |
Delete | This link appears on each row of the table; once clicked, it will delete the row. |
Add New | This button adds a new row to the top of the table. Once its fields have values, the "Save" icon or button can be selected to solidify the new row. |
Save | This button will become available as changes are made to allow the user to save new values. This control serves the same purpose as the Save Changes icon. |
Discard | This button will become available as changes are made to allow the user to discard new values and revert them to their prior state. This control serves the same purpose as the Discard Changes icon. |
Note: Some Administrative Tasks are read-only (Database & Server Status Report) or automatically perform their function when clicked (Flush Cache).
Traffic Count Upload
The Traffic Count Upload interface allows the privileged user to upload traffic count information from a PDF or Excel file. To do this, the user can select the "Choose File" button beside the desired file type (PDF/XLS). Then, the user must specify the required fields (*) in the intersection information section. These fields can be filled manually (picklists/textboxes) or through the Select from Map tool (). Finally, the "Upload" button can be selected to upload the file and intersection information into the application.
