The Bike and Pedestrian (Bike/Ped) enhancements to the SC Inventory Manager will primarily affect the Road Inventory, Road Modification, and Advanced Query interfaces. The purpose of this enhancement is to provide the ability to maintain bicycle and pedestrian data.
Road Inventory
The Road Inventory interface () will include two tabs for bicycle and pedestrian data. The two tabs-- Bike/Ped and Proposed Bike/Ped-- cover the editing of existing (Bike/Ped) and proposed future (Prop. Bike/Ped) bicycle and pedestrian data. Data Items will be added for each bicycle and pedestrian database field and the default RIMS data table will be updated to include these data items. When editing Bike/Ped data, the user can view the data in multi and single record view, just as with the other Road Inventory tabs. If no proposed data exists for a route, a single record will exist covering the complete route length with all facility type fields set to Not Applicable (N/A) and all other fields left empty.
The Bike/Ped tabs also provide "Helper" pop-ups for Facility Type and Median Type fields. These pop-ups link to PDFs which identify the available Facility or Median types; this benefits users who may not be familiar with the Median numbers or Facility abbreviations. To open these help documents, the user can click the question mark (?) icon by the associated header. Then, PDFs similar to the images below will appear on the screen.
Route Modification
The Route Modification interface () will also include the two Bike and Pedestrian tabs, Bike/Ped and Prop. Bike/Ped, in the Route Modification Preview interface. This inclusion will allow for bicycle and pedestrian data processing during a Route Mod session.
Advanced Query
The Advanced Query interface () will include the ability to generate and run queries against the existing and proposed future bicycle and pedestrian data. The Information Type dropdown on the Query Builder provides access to this data by providing the "Bike/Pedestrian" and "Proposed Bike/Pedestrian" options. Once one of these information types is selected, the user can select an item to specify the Bike/Ped query; each right outside, right inside, left inside, and left outside bicycle and pedestrian data attribute will be available in the "Item" dropdown.
Data Items
Bicycle and pedestrian data items are included in the list of Inventory Manager data items. These data items are in the "Bike and Ped" item group, and a similar set is in the Proposed Future Facility fields and the "Proposed Bike and Ped" item group. For all data attribute types-- right outside, right inside, left inside, and left outside-- these data items will be available:
- Facility Carried
- Facility Proposer
- Facility Usage
- Facility Surface Type
- Facility Surface Width
- Facility is Separated from Traffic
- Median Type for Facility
- Median Width for Facility
Permissions
With the Bike/Ped functionality, the application necessitates the creation of corresponding permission types. To access the Bike/Ped and Prop. Bike/Ped tabs in Road Inventory, the user must be assigned the "Bicycle/Pedestrian Maintenance" permission. To access the bicycle and pedestrian data in Advanced Query, the user must be assigned the "Bicycle/Pedestrian View" permission.
