Road Segments

This is a tool that is located on the Section Files portion of the Submittals tab.

Function

The Road Segments interface () provides options to create one or more section files for the various HPMS data items.

Sections

The Road Segments interface is divided into 3 sections:

Data Table Information -- Shows the name of the currently selected HPMS Data Table.
File Creation Options -- Specifies how the Road Segment files are created.
Tab Options -- Specifies which routes/route types and data elements are to be included in the output files.

Controls

This interface hosts the Data Table dropdown control, alongside these controls:

Create Individual Files Bubble	File Creation Options	Create individual section files for each selected HPMS Data Item.
Create One File Bubble	File Creation Options	Create one section file containing the data for all selected HPMS Data Items.
Group Files By Dropdown	File Creation Options	Group output files by Route Type, Data Item, or Route Type and Data Item.
Exclude Nulls Checkbox	File Creation Options	Exclude sections where an HPMS Data Item does not exist from the section file.
Break on Sample Sections Checkbox	File Creation Options	Split output segment data where samples exist.
Include Non-Cardinal	File Creation Options	Include non-cardinal sections.
Road Designations, Road Events, and Road Identifications Tabs	Tab Options	Show options for filtering by route type or route and FHWA data items.
Select All Link	Tab Options	Under Routes: Select all available Route Types for segment file creation. Under Data Items: Select all available HPMS Data Items for segment file creation.
Select TOPS Data Items Link	Tab Options	Select all TOPS data items for section file creation.
Create Section Files Button	Tab Options	Generate the section files based on the selected criteria.

Tab Options

As indicated above, there are three Tab Options: Road Designations, Road Events, and Road Identifications. Each of these tabs hosts a Routes box and a Data Items box. At least one route/route type or data item must be selected in the boxes before generating the segment file.

Routes Box

For all three tabs, the Route box will have a picklist with two options: Route Type and Select Route(s).

Route Types

If Route Type is selected in the picklist, the user can manually select checkboxes (1+) or automatically select all checkboxes using the "Select All" link.

Route

If Select Route(s) is selected in the picklist, the user must enter a complete Route LRS using the County, Route Type, Route Number, Auxiliary, and Direction picklists. Then, they can add it using the "Add Route >" button. Multiple routes can be added before generating the section files by following this pattern.

Data Items Box

For all three tabs, the Data Items box will be composed of checkboxes. The user can manually click the checkboxes, use the "Select All" link, or use the "Select TOPS Data Items" link to select the desired checkboxes. See the Controls section of this article to learn more about the listed links.
