This is a tool that is located on the Configuration section of the System Administration tab.
Function
The Data Source interface () is used to edit data sources using the dropdown control and to add data sources using the Add New button.
Controls
There are some general controls offered on this interface.
Control | Used To... |
Data Source Dropdown | Select an already created Data Source to edit from the available list. |
Add New Button | Create a new Data Source. |
Data Source Type Dropdown | Select the data source type (Oracle or Map Service). |
Shortcut Textbox | Enter a shortcut for the data source. |
Verify Source Button | Verify the database entry. |
Delete Source | Delete the selected data source. |
Save Changes Button | Save changes to the selected data source. |
Discard Changes Button | Discard changes temporarily applied to the selected data source. |
Data Source Type Fields
The Connection Parameters section of the interface will reflect relevant information for the selected data source type (Oracle or Map Service). The two Data Source Types have these fields available.

Server Textbox | Oracle | Enter the name of the server when connecting to the data source. |
Username Textbox | Oracle | Enter the database username when connecting to the data source. |
Password Textbox | Oracle | Enter the database password when connecting to the data source. |
Service Directory Textbox | Map Service | Enter the service directory. |
Service Dropdown | Map Service | Select the desired service option. |
Service Type Textbox | Map Service | Enter an appropriate service type. |
Include in Map Legend Checkbox | Map Service | Determine if the data should be included in the map legend. |
Edit Data Source
To edit an existing data source, follow these steps:
- Click on the desired name in the Data Source picklist.
- Edit the intended connection parameter fields.
- Click the "Save Changes" button.
Add New Data Source
To create an Oracle or Map Service data source, follow these steps:
- Fill out all connection parameter fields.
- After all parameters have a value, click the “Verify Source” button in the lower left corner of the interface to verify the connection to the specified oracle or map service.
- If the connection is valid, click the “Save Changes” button.
