This is a tool that is located on the Maintenance section of the System Administration tab.
Function
The Code List Maintenance interface () provides the ability to maintain the SCDOT code lists stored in the RIMS database. This icon will only be displayed and accessible for users with the "System Admin: Code List" permission. No Inventory Manager specific code lists will be available from within this interface; this interface will be composed of all RIMS code lists (except for City, County, Study Area, and Urban Area).
Sections
The Code Lists interface consists of 4 components: Code List Picklist, Code List Table, Edit Code Section, and Button Controls. The image below corresponds to this numbered list.
(1) Code List Picklist
The Code List Picklist is used to select which code list is displayed in the Code List Table. This picklist will be populated with all SCDOT code lists. Once a code list is selected, all entries in the code list will be displayed in the table.
(2) Code Lists Table
The Code Lists Table provides a list of all entries in the selected code list. The arrows on the far right of the Code List Table can be used to edit the display order of the entries. There are four arrow buttons:
Arrow | Description |
Move the selected item to the top of the list.
Move the selected item up one row in the list.
Move the selected item down one row in the list.
Move the selected item to the bottom of the list. |
This table is also the starting point for all code list editing. To edit the contents of one of the code list entries, the user can select a row in the table. Then, the Edit Code section will be populated with the values for the selected code list entry, allowing for any desired editing.
(3) Edit Code
The Edit Code section displays fields related to the selected code list entry. All values here can be edited if desired, except ID. A code can also be marked as obsolete in this section by selecting the checkbox. If any changes are made (values/checkbox), the user must select the "Save Changes" button to solidify them.
(4) Button Controls
The following button controls are provided at the base of the Code Lists interface:
Button Control | Used To... |
Add New Code |
Clear the Edit Code section to allow values to be entered for a new entry to the selected code list. |
Sort Codes A-Z | Automatically sort the entries in the selected code list alphabetically by the Name column and set the Display Order values to match the alphabetically sorted order. |
Save Changes | Save all changes to the code lists back to the RIMS database. |
Discard Changes | Discard any unsaved changes made to the code list and refresh the interface. |
