This tool is located on the RIMS section of the Road tab.
Function
The Road Inventory interface () is used to view data and perform data maintenance for Route Systems, Roadway Description, Route Feature, Intersections, Boundaries, Curve Data, Ramps, RI Additions, Bike/Ped, and Prop. Bike/Ped.
Layout
The Road Inventory interface is composed of five main focus areas: (1) filters, (2) dominant route fields, (3) internal tabs, (4) table data, and (5) controls. The image below corresponds to this numbered list.
(1) Filters
The Filters section allows the user to populate the interface with data. Before filter selections are made, there will be no data displayed on the table. As indicated by the Color Key, the County, Route Type, Route Number, and Auxiliary filters are required. The user can also fill the optional filters here: From MP, To MP, Road Names, and Direction. There is also an optional checkbox in this filter area which is made available if the "Ramps" internal tab is selected: Grade Sep. Once all required filters and desired optional filters are selected, the user can click "Find" to populate the Table Data section on each applicable internal tab.
Control | On These Internal Tabs | Used To... |
Grade Sep. Checkbox | Ramps | Specify if the intersection is grade separated or at grade. Intersections where the checkbox is not checked are true intersections, while intersections where the checkbox is checked are grade separated crossings. |
(2) Dominant Route Fields
The Dominant Route Fields are view-only, and they will be populated if the user selects a subordinate route row in the Table Data section under any of the internal tabs. When a subordinate route is selected, the dominant route will be described using the given field categories-- Dominant Route Type, Route, Auxiliary, Direction, BMP, and EMP. The image below shows the Dominant Route Fields section and the Table Data row that triggered its population.
(3) Internal Tabs
The Internal Tabs section allows the user to navigate to the specific area in need of data maintenance. There are ten internal tabs: Route Systems, Roadway Description, Route Feature, Intersections, Boundaries, Curve Data, Ramps, Road Inventory (RI) Additions, Bike/Ped, and Prop. Bike/Ped. When the user selects a tab, the Table Data below will refresh to reflect the specific tab category.
(4) Table Data
The Table Data section is presented on each internal tab. The data stored in the tables is editable by clicking into the table cells, entering the desired changes, and selecting the "Save Changes" button. While most internal tabs showcase a singular table, two of the internal tabs, Intersections and Ramps, are composed of two tables and have some included controls. The listed controls will appear below both tables on their designated tab.
Control | Internal Tab | Used To... |
Insert Intersection Link | Intersections | Insert a new row into the table to create a new intersection row. |
Delete Selected Intersections Link | Intersections | Delete the selected intersection entry by clicking the row's checkbox, then the link. |
Intersection Types Link | Intersections | Open a PDF containing images of each intersection type. |
Insert Ramps Link |
Ramps | Open a pop-up to select a ramp number; after a number is assigned to the new ramp, a table row will be added to both tables and will be editable. |
Delete Selected Ramps Link | Ramps | Delete the selected ramp entry by clicking the row's checkbox, then the link. |
(5) Controls
The Controls section is the primary area of data maintenance in this interface, allowing the user to add new information, change the information's display, and save any edits to the table. This lower portion of the Road Inventory interface is composed of a dropdown, nine links, two buttons, and a color key. All listed controls work directly with the table information.
Control | On These Internal Tabs | Used To... |
Insert Link | Route Systems, Roadway Description, Route Feature, Boundaries, Curve Data, Bike/Ped, and Prop. Bike/Ped | Insert a new table row under the currently selected table row. |
Insert Repeat Link | Route Systems, Roadway Description, Route Feature, Boundaries, Curve Data, Bike/Ped, and Prop. Bike/Ped | Copy the currently selected table row and paste an identical row directly underneath it; subordinate rows cannot be copied. |
Delete Selected Link | Route Systems, Roadway Description, Route Feature, Boundaries, Curve Data, Bike/Ped, and Prop. Bike/Ped | Delete a row by selecting its checkbox, then this link. |
Check Route Validity Link | Route Systems, Roadway Description, Route Feature, Boundaries, Curve Data, Bike/Ped, and Prop. Bike/Ped | Check that the inputted data is valid. For a range table, the system will validate that there are no gaps, no overlaps, and no invalid dominant route connections. For a point table, the system will validate that each mile point value is a valid dominant location on the route. |
Display Single Record View Link | Route Systems, Roadway Description, Route Feature, Boundaries, RI Additions, Bike/Ped, and Prop. Bike/Ped | View each table row's information one at a time; this link will update to "Display Multi Record View" once selected to allow the user to revert the display back to its original form. |
Set Current Row Color Link |
All internal tabs | Change the text color of the current, or selected, row; the default color will be red. |
