Basic Editor

This is a tool that is located on the Data Editing section of the Edit tab.

Function

The Basic Editor interface () allows the user to search, create, and update data in the HPMS Data Tables.

Sections

While the Basic Editor can be accessed through the Select from Map pop-up, it can also be accessed through the Basic Editor icon. The resulting interface for either access option is divided into 4 sections:

  1. Required Information -- Contains controls to help find a route and select which data items to display. 
  2. Data Items -- Allows the user to view and edit all listed data items along the selected route from a table. 
  3. Button Controls -- Provides saving, deleting, and adding capabilities.
  4. Expand and Collapse Controls -- Allows the user to expand, collapse, or exit Basic Editor.

Controls

This interface hosts the Data Dropdown control, alongside these controls:

Control Section Used To...
Edit Group Dropdown Required Information Choose which columns will appear in the table.
Enter Route Button Required Information Open the Enter Route interface to input route information, map the route, and fill the Basic Editor with the route's information.
Find Button Required Information Map the route and return to the Basic Editor.
Table Rows Data Items Click on a row to zoom in and highlight the corresponding segment in the Map Frame; similarly, clicking a segment in the Map Frame highlights a table row.
Table Cells Data Items Edit data items.
Error Icon Column Data Items Show that the new value did not pass a validation check.
Save to Source Checkbox Button Controls Commit changes to original source data items.
Add Row Link Button Controls Insert a row into the table. New rows will appear at the top of the table.
Delete Selected Rows Link Button Controls Delete a row or rows from the table. Records must be selected in the first column of the table to be deleted with this link.
Save Changes Button Button Controls Save changes made to the selected route.
Discard Changes Button Button Controls Discard changes made to the selected route. 
Maximize Button Expand and Collapse Controls Fill the entire screen with the Basic Editor.
Minimize Button Expand and Collapse Controls Display only a single bar at the bottom of the screen, with the Required Information portion shown.
Exit Button (X) Expand and Collapse Controls Exit out of Basic Editor.

Enter Route Interface

The Enter Route interface can be opened by clicking the Enter Route button in the Required Information section. This tool allows the user to manually enter information in filter categories to search for a relevant route. The filter categories include:

Category Used To...
County Dropdown Select a county when filtering the results.
Route Type Dropdown Select a route type when filtering the results.
Route Number Dropdown Select a relevant number to specify the route type; will be blank until a route type is selected.
Auxiliary Dropdown  Select an auxiliary when filtering the results.
Direction Dropdown Select a direction when filtering the results.
Reset Button Clear the fields.
