This internal tab is located on the Railroad Crossings interface, found on the Data section of the Rail tab.
Function
The General Information internal tab displays general data on the currently displayed railroad crossing. This is the first tab to be displayed on the Railroad Crossings interface. Information will only be available here after the user selects filter options and clicks the "Find" Button.
Layout
The General Information internal tab has General Information Fields, an Approach Table, and some unique controls. The image below shows an example of how this tab will appear.
General Information Fields
The General Information Fields host picklists, textboxes, and date fields. The current field types are: Crossing No., Railroad Company/Line, Main Tracks (MT), Other Tracks, Train Speed (MS), WD, Crossing Surface, Total Number of Lanes Crossing Tracks (HL), Length of Crossing, Width of Crossing, Smallest Crossing Angle, Highway Pavement Factor (HP), ADT, and ADT Date. All listed fields are editable. If a field is edited, the user must select the "Save Changes" button to solidify the new values.
Approaches Table
The Approaches Table will appear below the General Information Fields. This table contains all the relevant approaches for the current railroad crossing. The approach information will be used to capture Inventory and Inspection data. While users can add or delete an approach here, they will receive an error if they attempt to delete one with data entered on the Inventory or Inspection tab. The data would first have to be deleted on the appropriate tab before proceeding with the delete action in the General Information tab.
Controls
There are some controls unique to the General Information internal tab. These controls are:
Control | Used To... |
Delete Selected Link | Delete a checked approach from the Approaches Table. |
Add Approach Link | Add an approach row on the Approaches Table. |
Add Crossing Link | Add a new blank record to the General Information tab. The user will be required to enter the Crossing Number and at least one Approach record with valid LRS information before saving the new crossing. |
Delete Crossing Link | Delete or retire the railroad crossing currently displayed on the screen. |
Documents Link | View, add, or delete documents associated with the current railroad crossing. |
Documents Link
As mentioned above, the documents link is used to view, add, or delete documents associated with the current railroad crossing. This can be accomplished by selecting a document row and utilizing the appropriate button control-- Open Selected (view), Delete Selected (delete), or Add Document (add).
View
To view a document or picture, the user can select the relevant folder and click "Open Selected."
Add
To add a document, the user can select the “Add Document” button. This selection will open a pop-up called the "Add New" interface.
There are three controls offered on this interface:
Control | Used To... |
Select Folder Radio Buttons | Choose between saving the new document to the Documents or Pictures folder. |
Choose File Button | Select the desired file from the user's computer File Explorer. |
Save Changes Button | Upload the document. |
From the “Add New” interface, the user should first select either the Documents or Pictures folder for the document to be stored in. Then, the user can click the "Choose File" button to find the desired document on their computer's File Explorer. Once the document is selected and the "Open" button is clicked on the File Explorer, the file name will appear beside the "Choose File' button. To upload the document, the user can click "Save Changes." This uploads the document to the same location as the other files associated with the crossing.
Delete
To delete a document from the server, the user can select the document and then click the “Delete Selected” button. The user will receive a warning message that this is an operation that cannot be undone prior to the document being deleted.
