The Map Frame is somewhat covered by the Quick Search box upon first entering the application. After closing this box, the user will be able to see the full state of South Carolina.
Mouse Interactions
The map display can be changed by using specific mouse actions with the map. The user can use the mouse in these ways:
Mouse Action | Description |
Pan | Click, hold, and drag the map to re-center. |
Trackwheel Zoom | Zoom in by rolling the mouse wheel forward and zoom out by rolling the mouse wheel backward. |
Touchpad Zoom | Zoom in by spreading fingers on the touchpad and zoom out by closing fingers. |

Zoom in by selecting this button on the left side of the application. |

Zoom out by selecting this button on the left side of the application. |

Measurement Controls
The Map Frame also hosts measurement controls. The icon that is used to access these controls, Measurement Results (), is located directly below the plus and minus zoom buttons on the left side of the application. Measurement Results contain area, distance, and location tools.
- The Area tool calculates the area of a shaded region in the unit of measurement selected in the picklist. This is done by clicking on the tool icon (
) in the Measurement Results interface, clicking on locations on the map, and double clicking the last desired location to indicate that the created shape/shaded region is complete.
- The Distance tool calculates the distance between plotted points in the unit of measurement selected in the picklist. This is done by clicking on the tool icon (
) in the Measurement Results interface, clicking on the map to create points (
), and double clicking the last desired point to indicate that the measurement is complete.
- The Location tool finds the latitude and longitude of a location. This is done by clicking on the tool icon (
) in the Measurement Results interface and hovering over the map. The hovering action will track the longitude and latitude as the user moves the mouse; the user can also keep track of one location by clicking on the map which creates a point (
).
