The Select Point from Map tool () is located on the Map and Interactive Controls ribbon.
Select Point from Map
To utilize the Select Point from Map tool, the user must click its icon (), then click on the desired area on the map. This map selection will open a list of routes nearby:
On this list, the user can click one of the route links to map the point and view the route information box. If only one route exists in the selected location, the user will view the route information box immediately.
The route information box displays the County, Route, Milepoint, Functional Class, and AADT values. The user can also view extended information about this route by clicking one of the viewer options or selecting a data option in the "Go To" picklist. The Viewer options are shown below in this order: Pavement, Google Street View, Photolog.
The "Go To" picklist is shown below in its full state, with its five available options-- Bridge, Pavement, Projects, Road Inventory, and Traffic.
Once one of these options is selected, the map will zoom to the route, and the query criteria and summary data box will be displayed on the right side of the Map Frame in the Criteria pop-up. The "Go To" options correspond to some of the Main Menu categories; therefore, the fields in the summary data box will reflect fields hosted in these categories on the Main Menu. For example, the images below show the Pavement and Traffic "Go To" data for the Union S-16 East route. The Pavement option will have the PQI, Collection Year, and IRI fields; the Traffic option will have the Factored AADT and Factored AADT Year fields. The County, Route, Direction, and Segment fields are static on all summary data boxes. To flip through the user's "Go To" searches, even those with different types (ex. Pavement and Traffic), the user can click the "Previous Report" and "Next Report" links in the lower right corner of the screen.
The user can also view the Criteria pop-up information in another format. The "View Tabular Format" link can be used to view a table of the summary data boxes' information and extended details on the route. The user can save this table to Shapefile or Excel.
Furthermore, the "Go To" search can be saved to the system for future recall. The "Save Search" link performs this action; this link is located under the query criteria in the Criteria pop-up. To save the current search, the user must enter a Search Name, check/uncheck "Others Can View," and click the Save button. Then, the user should be able to access the search in Load Search.
